A typical application would be a sensor array for a custom magnetic field-mapping system.

Metrolab uses the same sensor in several of its products, and is now making this technology available to electronic systems designers. Note that, being an electronic peripheral component, the MagVector™ MV2 includes none of the amenities of a traditional magnetometer: the user must supply the micro-controller, control firmware, host interface, user interface, and, last but not least, calibration. For complete 3-axis Hall magnetometers, please see the THM1176 / TFM1186 family of instruments.

Small but powerful

MV2 Block diagramMeasuring only 3x3x0.9 mm, the MagVector™ MV2 is a powerful magnetometer on a chip: three orthogonal Hall sensors measure (Bx,By,Bz); the “spinning current” technique minimises noise, offset and the Planar Hall Effect; a built-in temperature sensor permits temperature compensation; a programmable-gain amplifier provides measurement ranges from 0.1 to 30 T; and built-in ADCs and SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) provide a digital interface in addition to an analog one.

High performance

The MV2 features a noise density of 300 nT/√Hz and an analog measurement bandwidth of 50 kHz. In digital mode, measurement rate can be traded off against ADC resolution, ranging from 0.375 to 3 kHz, and from 14 to 16 bits, respectively. It supports a supply voltage of 3.3 or 5 V. The compact 3×3 mm QFN package is completely nonmagnetic, compatible with MRI environments. Please see the Data Sheet for details.

Analog and digital interfaces

A signal pin selects between the analog or digital interface. In analog mode, configuration options such as the measurement range are selected using control signals, whereas in digital mode all configuration parameters are transferred via SPI and stored in internal registers. Additional control signals and register bits provide fine control over the measurement process, for example the timing of the analog/digital conversion. In digital mode, multiple MV2s can be connected to a single SPI bus.

FAMAS – Magnetic Angle Sensor SENA2Dx https://gmw.com/product/famas-magnetic-angle-sensor-sena2dx/ Wed, 27 Jan 2021 19:37:23 +0000 https://gmw1.wpenginepowered.com/?post_type=product&p=15726 The SENIS® Fast Magnetic Angle Sensor (FAMAS) SENA2Dx is an integrated magnetic field sensor that allows the measurement of the rotation angle of the in-plane components of a magnetic field, such as that of a permanent magnet attached on-axis to a rotating shaft.  The co-integrated signal processing circuit represents a servo loop to track the external field which directly converts the angular position of the magnetic field to digital information. Thus, the angular position of the magnetic field, rotation direction, and angular velocity are available after less than 1 µs delay time. There are three modes of operation available – fast, balanced and high resolution – to offer optimal performance for the required application.

The sensor incorporates three groups of mutually orthogonal Hall-effect elements (one horizontal and two vertical) with biasing circuits and amplifiers for each of them.

AKM Hall Element Magnetic Sensors https://gmw.com/product/hall-element/ Mon, 07 Jan 2019 11:14:03 +0000 https://gmw1.wpenginepowered.com/?post_type=product&p=563 AKM (Asahi) Hall Element Magnetic Sensors enable isolated non-contact measurement of linear and angle position, and of electric current. For mechanical position measurement the AKM Magnetic Sensors are used in combination with small permanent magnets to provide very high reliability and long life. By enabling the sensor to be sealed and isolated from the moving component the effects of contamination and friction are reduced. Electric currents produce a magnetic field with magnitude proportional to the electric current. Measurement of the magnetic field using AKM Magnetic Sensors enables the implementation of accurate electric current measurement with high voltage isolation, lower power loss and high signal to noise ratio compared to using current sense resistors. AKM Hall Element Magnetic Sensors feature high sensitivity and stability and are offered in a wide range of package types to meet different application requirements.

AKM Hall Magnetic Switch ICs https://gmw.com/product/hall-switch-ics/ Thu, 24 Jan 2019 18:18:10 +0000 https://gmw1.wpenginepowered.com/?post_type=product&p=958 AKM (Asahi) Hall Switch ICs consist of a Hall element and signal conditioning circuit to convert the Hall element output into a digital output. The two devices are mounted in a single, small package with three active terminals (Vcc,GND and Out). There are two choices of power consumption, continuous excitation and pulsed excitation at low duty cycles that significantly reduces the average power.

AKM Linear Hall Magnetic ICs https://gmw.com/product/linear-hall-effect-ics/ Mon, 28 Jan 2019 20:46:40 +0000 https://gmw1.wpenginepowered.com/?post_type=product&p=1046 AKM (Asahi) Linear Hall Effect IC Magnetic Sensors consist of a Hall Element and an Amplifer in a package. The sensors detect the magnetic field and generate an very small analog output signal proportional to the magnetic field. AKM offers 4 levels of sensitivities in the SMT (SOP) and SIP version.

The AKM non-programmable linear sensors offer a significant improvement in single axis linear Hall Effect sensing. Compared with other popular linear sensors on the market, the AKM linear sensor EQ-43XL and EQ-73XL Series has:
